PostSubject: "SDA Recruitment Program": Expanding the Academy and Keeping It Alive (Suggestion), Features Guide On How to Recruit!   Wed Feb 25, 2015 5:55 pm

Hello!

It's me, Zkillerthriller, and I have an idea to expand this place, as well as keeping it alive for very long - the "SDA Recruitment Program".

The idea of it is to recruit atleast 5 new members to SDA every week - also testing them into a dormitory, socialise with them in chat, and encourge them to not only post an introduction topic, but post many other topics as well.

But why do I feel the need for this here at SDA (apart from previoysly stated reasons)? Well, you see, as of the time of writing this, we have 111 registered users. Yet, we usually only see 5-10 online at a time. In fact, the most online ever was 21, not even being close to 111. But why is this? Well, probably they're just random friends to people here, already being on other academies, or they got rush-recruited by someone here and didn't get properly taken care of nor acknowledged afterwards. This is not a proper way of doing it.

Because of this, I've taken my sweet little time to write this guide on how to recruit - In-Depth Guide On How to Recruit:

(ignore anything that says "Very happy". Long story, can't explain.)

Step 1:
Join someone elses duel -  whether you'll join someone who's hosting or just go into a random duel through the Duelist Pool is up to you. That way it will be easier to socialize with them! Just make sure you don't host a duel with you're note being like: "Wanna join an academy? Come here!" Because advertising academies (any advertising) is strictly prohibited there. Atleast if you're gonna do it by putting it in your note, but messaging people is totally fine. Don't worry!

Step 2:
Say something like: "Hello!" or "Have fun, man! Very Happy". But don't make it to excessive. As the first thing you do. You need to keep in mind that they don't wanna, straight out of the blue have an academy shoved down their throat. Keep that in mind! Don't see them as someone you're recruiting; See it as an opportunity to make a new friend! The recruitment factor is really just a bonus. (But still, don't forget that you're main objective is to recruit them).

Step 3:
Tell them this: "By the way, would you be interested in joining an academy? There's a great load of fun to be had there! We have: Tournaments, Roleplaying, Wars against other academies, and alot more crazy stuff! What do you say? Wanna join? But, please  say no if you're not interested."
If they ask what an "Academy" is, tell them this: "An academy isn't what it sounds like. It's not that much centered around learning as it in just having a good time. It really is just like Facebook for Yu-gi-oh players. Only better, and a with a ton of crazy events! But also, bare in mind that it does contain an improvement aspect, as well!

Step 4:
If they say "Yes". Give them this link:   http:http://satellarduelacademy.forumotion.com/
If they say "Yes" in the middle of the duel; Don't stop! Talk, and explain more about the academy as you duel!
If they say no, do this: Continue to duel with them either way and act as nice as you can. They might change their mind!

Step 5:
Ask them to get registrated. If they are finding it hard; Give them direction! But make sure you're not stressing them out!

Step 6:
Encourage them to make an "Introduction-Topic". If they're struggling, Once again: Give them direction! But make sure you're not stressing them out if they still can't find it!

Tips:
- Try becoming their friend
- Be as friendly as possible!
- Use as good spelling/grammar, as possible!
- Be patient with them!
- Continue with the duel even after they've said "Yes"
- When they're recruited: Make them feel at home

Warnings:
- Don't start of by throwing an academy down their throat
- Socialize!
- Don't spell like you're 11
- Don't rush-recruit, them. Take your time with them!
- Don't be impatient

So, that is how you recruit. I've been on many other academies, so I have experience.

However, I don't think just anyone should be allowed to recruit random people like this (friends are fine), because they might do inproperly. Which is why I suggest a "Recruit License" should be implemented. But you can't just buy it with Stardust, you'd need to take a test, something like this: you try to recruit someone based on my recruitment guide, and then an admin/mod/tester evaluates if they think that person did it good and according to the guide (he doesn't need to recruit someone, just try to). If he did good he gets a Recruit License, and so now he is an official recruiter.

I also think we should have some legit way for people to improve ( an imporvement program) their skills. I mean, homework is almost never posted. But still, just homework isn't enough. We need more ways, we need teachers. Who're not inactive on SDA. I'll expand more on the "Improvement Program" in a different topic.

Is this a good or a bad idea? What do you think of it, give me your opinions!

Well we need to remember that we've only got 1 homework assignment to date, so yeah....
Also to the need of teachers, we only have teachers that are active, cause no one else comes here but active peeps.
If you want to start recruiting people go ahead, might not turn like you hoped it would.
