| I have seen a lot of lists lately and wanted to pitch in.. so here it goes..
17: Phantom Hourglass
I think this game isn't horrible. The game is good, its just way too bad to be a Zelda game in my book. The dungeons were boring and it was just an attempt to recreate Wind Waker, but it was done in a very bad way.
16: Four Swords
This one has a pretty good excuse for being so low on the list as it wasn't really whole game. It was short and not very rewarding. I personally don't think this should be considered a mainstream Zelda game, but it is for.. some reason..
15: Spirit Tracks
I actually enjoyed this game. It had a lot of issues with it, such as the atrociously boring traveling system of trains and the hero being called the Hero of Trains (seriously Nintendo?), but it did have some glimmering light to it. It had new items that hadn't really been seen before and it made several attempts at innovation. It was a good game, just not that great in comparison to the other ones.
14: The Legend of Zelda
This game is.. okay... Playing it at the time I am sure the game was absolutely amazing, but I didn't really like the game all that much. I played it once to get through it, played it again with a walkthrough for all the heart pieces and stuff (some of those heart pieces... really?), and that was it. I never went back to it and I have no desire to.
13: Oracle of Ages
I can't say much about this game. It doesn't have a lot bad, nor does it have a lot that is that great. I will be honest, I never finished this one or seasons because they are both unexciting, but I did get a good amount of the way.
12: Oracle of Seasons
This has the same reasons as Ages. The main differnece is I liked the more puzzle heavy approach this one made.
11: Link's Awakening
I absolutely loved this game the first time I played it. I felt like Link actually had emotions and I could feel them. I enjoyed the mystery as it started to unravel. I loved the game so much that I went to replay it only to come to the sad truth that it had no replay value. The feeling was gone and that is why it is placed at #11.
10: Four Swords Adventures
I may be biased towards this game because I have no friends to play it with but whatever. I liked the design of the world, but most of the dungeons seemed really lackluster and straight forward.
9: A Link to the Past
Yes I know some elitist scum put this as the best and perfect Zelda game and may it barely making the top 10. Do I care? No. This game is good. This game is really good with some cool innovation (especially for the time) and I applaud Nintendo. This game just hasn't aged all that well as many of the more recent Zelda games took what A Link to the Past already had and improved upon it.
8: The Adventure of Link
This game has a lot of hate for being stupidly hard and not at all like a Zelda game. It was the second game in the series! The Zelda formula hadn't been made yet! And the game is stupidly hard, but the game is still tremendously fun. I just want to say if anyone wants to play this game I highly suggest a guide. Dan from Game Grumps said it well when he said (and I may be paraphrasing) "This game sucks without a guide, but with a guide its just fantastic."
7: Ocarina of Time
Now for the most overrated game of all time. Yes, the game is good. Yes, it was revolutionary and quite possibly the best game out there when it was released. This is my first Zelda game and I can understand some of the nostalgia, but holy crap it has been overrated for almost two decades. I think it may have finally calmed down. Now that my rant is over the game is really good. it helped solidify the formula with the songs that you kind of play yourself, and it improved upon just about everything it took from previous Zelda games. It also has a a top 5 storyline for a Zelda game (which isn't hard to beat to be fair). The game just doesn't have much that is phenominal about it, at least compared to the rest of the list. The rest of the list has something great I can say about it, but not so much this one. And this game is easy. I just thought I should throw that in there.
6: Minish Cap
I am sad I didn't play this game at all until a few months ago. This game is so great and it gets you hooked so incredibly fast. I love the minish mechanic as it gives you new perspective of the overworld and you must start looking at in the mindset of--not only of where you can go now--but where can I go as a minish? I wish they used the minish mechanic a bit more in terms of boss fights and puzzles and things like that as most of the time it was fairly obvious, but the game was just great throughout the whole thing. Temple of Droplets is a great dungeon, just thought I should mention it.
5: Skyward Sword
This game has received a LOT of hate. I think there is more hate for this game than The Adventure of Link by now. If there is hate for this game it is one or both of two things 9 times of 10: I hate motion controls or the game is linear. May I start out by saying this game is just as linear as Ocarina of Time. The linearity honestly shouldn't be a problem and it isn't in my book. If you can get past that and the motion controls the game is great. It has some of the best boss fights in the Zelda franchise (Koloktos is my bae). Let's not forget the music in this game is AMAZING. This game has the best soundtrack in the whole series hands down. Also about halfway through the game you start collecting things in the spirit world (I forget the name so that's the name I am giving it), and in this part I love dashing around. I love the feel of being a ninja and the thrill of fear when I run out of time and the spirits come after me.
4: Wind Waker
I didn't play this game for a long time. I mean, I played it up to the first dungeon when it was first released, but I barely touched it after that. No it wasn't because of the graphics. The graphics never bothered me. What bothered me was it took SO DAMN LONG TO GET INTO. This game takes the slot for slowest start in a Zelda game. The rest of the game makes up for the slow start. When it picks up it picks up extremely fast. Sailing ended up being a lot of fun as I felt a strong sense of adventure; my first time playing this game through the whole thing I even made my own map on a piece of paper and I marked squares of places I needed to revisit for various reasons. The dungeons were throughout really well made. They progressively tended to be less linear and more complex which was really good. Some of the bosses were questionable but most of them very fun. This was a very nice and innovative look at the new world of Hyrule.
3: A Link Between Worlds
This game proves that 2D Zelda games can be just as good, if not better, than the 3D counterparts. This game gave a phenomenal sense of adventure, allowing you to go any which way and just makes you want to keep playing because there are so many places to go! The soundtrack is great and the puzzles are really good. I hate to admit it, but I ended up really loving the picture mechanic as it added so much towards puzzle design and hidden secrets. If I had any complaints it would be that I didn't like the item system. I get a good feeling when I work hard to get an item that I need to enter a dungeon, but this game just kinda hands them out to you. I know it was to promote an Elder Scrolls-like open world where you don't feel restricted, I just missed the feeling of getting key items and knowing how much of the world that got opened up to me because of my hard work.
2: Twilight Princess
Yet another game with a mechanic that I hate to admit was really good. Twilight Princess effectively turned our hero, Link, into a werewolf. At the beginning the wolf portions were tedious and boring, but I loved the human link portions and couldn't wait to get back on track. When you could suddenly control when you became a wolf and when you weren't though, suddenly there were so many puzzles and hidden things that made me feel brilliant when I found them. After that point I pulled an all nighter on this game just to finish it, making me play this game effectively for 14 hours in a row. The bosses were a bit sub par, but the constantly changing and unique dungeon layouts easily made up for that.
1: Majora's Mask
I liked this game before it was cool bitches! This game has been on the top of my list since I was 8 or 9 and it hasn't shifted down to this day. This game has the most touching story in the whole franchise. What looks like a happy adventure is a game actually filled with dread and sorrow. In 7th grade grade my English teacher gave us an assignment to write an essay about something high in symbolism and creativity that isn't in a book that the students' believed could be used legitimately for an English lesson. Most of the students picked a song or a movie, but I picked this game. This game is filled with some of the most powerful lessons and such heavier and deeper themes any book I have ever read. Gameplay wise the game doesn't fall short. It is so much that was loved about Ocarina of Time and more. Sure you can shoot things and swing your sword, but how you can have the agility of a Deku Scrub, the power of a Goron, and the swimming ability of a Zora. This is from the mask system. You can wear masks to change your body's form. This makes for the most versatile and diverse Link to date and it is so great because you don't play the same character throughout the whole game. You switch to different playstyles and this restricts limitations that most of us normally hate form having one character with the same weaknesses. Most of the bosses are great. Odolwa was a bit boring for it being easy, but it was the first boss. Goht was tremendous fun. Gyorg is frustratingly hard, but after playing this game over a dozen times he has become my favorite in the game. Twinmold is meh. The final boss is a lot of fun since it constantly switches stages that force you to take a different approach to fighting it. Stone Tower and Great Bay Temple are really great dungeons, in fact I would say Great Bay Temple is my favorite dungeon to date. This is truly a masterpiece. I cannot recommend this game enough to anyone that wants to try a game or read a great piece of literature.

In what way? We have a villain that you see for more than 20 seconds before the final boss. We have a companion you actually care about and don't want to strangle. We have the mother fucking temple of droplets and you have the water temple... There are decently hard puzzles in Minish cap and nearly all the bosses are fun and the game gets progressively more difficult. OoT there aren't really any bosses that stand out, and its easy throughout the whole, damn, thing, and barely spikes up in difficulty at all.

OOT'S story and game play > minish cap's No. I didn't feel for Link at all. Link was almost entirely emotionless through that whole game and I felt nothing from him. I didn't even feel anything when Zelda got captured. Also I beat OoT when I was 5. The only time I got help for anything was a key in the water temple, and that doesn't even qualify as a puzzle, just a dick move by Nintendo's part. That game is easy as balls.

| Nice list.
All though A Link To The Past is one of my favorites in the entire series, IDK I just think it had a really cool story line.
I also agree with OOT being over rated, I didn't enjoy it that much.
Oh and MAJORA'S MASKS IS THE BEST ZELDA GAME.
I like this list, my personal top 3 favorites of the Zelda franchise is
3) A Link To The Past 2) Majora's Masks 1) Twilight Princess
