There's nothing to do so another random post by Reventon.

What happened: I was walking home from the grocery store yesterday and at the apartment complex near my house I see this little girl playing with a basketball. No basket or anything just playing with the ball. Her mother was sitting in a lawn chair reading a book it seemed like. The girl seemed about 7 or so. Now what got me was the ball got away from her and out into the street and she went after the ball. Note that at around that time of day (around 5-5:30pm) it's traffic heavy. The mom glanced over then went back to the book. I stayed close by just in case and cars were driving by honking their horns as they drove by. The girl got back safely and I headed home.

Question: Is this bad parenting or not? And what have you seen that makes you say some people shouldn't have kids?

Well I mean it sounds like she was watching her daughter so that the daughter wouldn't get hurt. As long as the kid had a severely low chance of getting hurt I don't find a problem with it. Doing too much to help your kid can be more harmful than doing nothing.

The thing is; it's not really bad parenting/child endangerment. The child was going to get a ball, and to be quite honest any time of the day a car could come down a road and run her over. I am not saying that what the parent was doing was the right thing to do; however it is certainly not correct to say that just because of that one instance she is labelled as a bad parent. Remember that parents can always make small mistakes and that this may not happen all of the time (It could have been a one off.)
